The hubs and I celebrated our birthdays in New Orleans this year. We spent three days in this wonderful city and just so happened to be there during French Quarter Fest, so there was literally live music thumping on every street corner. New Orleans is a music and food lovers haven. We dined at one delicious restaurant after another...Shaya features a fresh take on Middle Eastern cuisine; we stuffed ourselves at Argentine steakhouse, La Boca; we had a unique brunch (chocolate chip waffle with bacon!) at Cavan, which is located in a salvaged 1800s mansion in the Garden District; we enjoyed a delicious traditional creole dinner at Luke; and went to brunch our last day at Antoine's. Aside from the dining are also great spots to sip a cocktail and enjoy the view - Carousel Bar and Muriel's were two of our favorites. In addition to wonderful cuisine, there is a vibrant art scene in NoLa. Every street in the French Quarter has an art gallery or two and Frenchman's street is home to numerous music clubs, which feature live jazz performers every night.
Until next time NoLa! It was a blast!
